FISHERS, IN – Fishers Town Council President Scott Faultless delivered a State of the Town address today that emphasized steady commercial and residential growth, a solid financial foundation, and high quality-services at a low cost.
“We continue to experience growth and prosperity despite a challenging national economic climate,” said Faultless. “Commercial projects are happening within the town and there has never been a better time to invest in the community through capital improvement projects.”
Faultless highlighted commercial projects such as St. Vincent’s Northeast and Concourse at Crosspoint. St. Vincent’s opened in 2008 and is a $31 million investment in the community. Concourse at Crosspoint is currently under construction and will consist of 5 class “A” office buildings worth $100 million.
He emphasized the town’s low tax rate by comparing it to other communities of its size. Fishers municipal tax rate is .3376 and is the lowest of the ten largest Indiana communities. Only two cities in the state have lower tax rates. Fishers per capita property tax spending is also lower than any of the ten largest communities.
Park improvement projects, stimulus requests, and town employee initiatives were among other topics mentioned.
Faultless spoke to approximately 250 attendees that included business leaders, non-profit groups, and town staff. The annual luncheon is hosted by the Fishers Chamber of Commerce and takes place at the FORUM Conference Center.
“The community is recognized nationally as a great place to live because of the work that all of you people do,” Faultless told the crowd.
